Does it pay to be kind?

I used to think singaporeans are generous until the day we did flag day for the CIP hours. The class was splited into three locations at orchard.I was at far east with my brothers and sisters. It was the "tapestry" that was going on.Many bands get to perform for a duration of 30 mins each. Some with reaelly great songs. We were carrying tins collecting donations and "selling" lanyards. Many people were relactant to donate. Is it because of the NKF incident that people lost trust in charitable organisations? i wouldn't be doing the flag day if it was for nkf too.however that was for the Lion's home for elders. i sold less than 10 lanyards in a duration of 7 hours.Lanyards were acutally given to people who donated more than $2. Madina was so charming that she sold quite a lot and even helped us to sell some.It is so difficult to even stop and give just a little to help others?Maybe its the thoughts that count.Just giving maybe a ten cents each if accumlated would be able to help others.Sad to say, people are just unwilling to even give their coins.Saving that might allow them to use the toliet for a few times?when toilets nowdays are actually free to use. Next was the lack of volunteers.lesser people are willing to help anymore.I wonder what will happen to the event if we weren't there to help. The staff, other than giving instructions to us,most of the time were sitting there watching performance while we were under the sun asking for donations. They even asked us to stay for another hour when we were supposed to be doing 6 hrs only.so we thought,it was just another hour,we stayed. They even requested for us to stay till the end of the event, because of the lack of volunteers.should i call that taking advantage of us? We even helped them to inflat ballons.Poor brothers left with painful fingers from tying the ballons. I left with a painful butt.Jos and i tried to catch a ballon what was flying off.we bumped and i fell on my butt.My butt hurts till now.
Sun.I fell sick again.First was headach.next was flu.not recovering even from taking medicine. There goes my weekends.
